Strategic Alliance Partnerships

Carpenter’s Shelter does not work alone in the quest to end homelessness. To our clients, we operate as a gateway to our services and to resources in the community. To other nonprofits, businesses, and faith organizations, we offer the opportunity to partner in our vision through Strategic Alliances.

Interested in becoming a Carpenter’s Strategic Alliance Partner? Read about our strategic partner opportunities or call our Director of Development and Strategic Alliances, Jasmin Witcher, at 703-548-7500 x 203.

We regularly highlight four of our strategic alliances and their dedicated work:

For many years, the ACSB has partnered with Carpenter’s Shelter to provide compassionate and effective services that support self-determination, recovery and resiliency for residents affected by mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders.

Current collaboration includes:

  • A mental health liaison who daily interacts with our child and family services staff in the assessment, treatment, and coordination of mental health services for individuals, families and children.
  • Teen peer therapy groups
  • Outreach workers who closely with our chronically homeless clients at David’s Place who may need mental health or substance abuse interventions.

Carpenter’s is grateful for the Alexandria office of Grant Thornton who so enthusiastically answered our call for help. Through very busy with their own professional lives, each month Grant Thornton employees find the time to:

  • Serve and provide lunch
  • Organize children’s field trips
  • Lead job skills workshops
  • Provide volunteers for special events
  • Provide resources and financial support for shelter programs

The Taproot Foundation, which provides highly skilled creative, technical and management professionals committed to doing pro bono work to help local nonprofits increase their impact in the community, gave a website grant to us. A heartfelt thank you to our team, Kandace Evelyn, Rick Banez, Jennifer Berk, John Miller, Brockett Horne, Jenny Christenson, John MacDougall, Vincent Knaus, Brock Boland, and Yenny Louie, for your patience, advice and expertise!

When we were in need of a privacy fence and repairs to our day shelter showers, the general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City sent over the best engineers and crew, without charging a dime. Other ways The Ritz-Carlton has helped us include:

  • Executive chef preparing and serving lunch
  • Assistance in the purchase of new washers and dryers
