Monetary Gifts: More than 72% of all money donated to Carpenter’s Shelter is through individual gifts, businesses, congregations, foundations and special events. 85 cents of every dollar goes directly to support our programs. Here’s how you can help:

2. Credit card donations may be made instantly to Carpenter's Shelter via the web at "Network for Good" (once there, click on the "Donate Now" button).

3. Become a Shelter Helper: Each month, your desired amount is automatically deducted from your checking account or credit card. Please contact our Development Office at 703-548-7500 x 203 for more information. Download the 'Monthly Giving Registration Form' here.

4. MATCHING GIFT PROGRAMS. Hundreds of companies have Matching Gifts Programs that may double or triple your gift to Carpenter's Shelter. Ask your HR Department to match your gift!

5. WORKPLACE GIVING CAMPAIGNS. Workplace Giving Campaigns account for more than 10% of Carpenter’s annual revenue. You can support Carpenter's Shelter through the United Way / CFC campaign:

Donated Gifts and Volunteer Opportunities: Each year Carpenter’s receives close to $500,000 in donated food and services, including more than 16,000 hours of volunteer time. Here’s how you can help us:

7. Donated Items: Carpenter's Shelter accepts the below listed items. Due to storage space limitations, we DO NOT accept donations of used furniture, clothes or toys.

8. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Here are a few ways you can make a difference in the lives of homeless and formerly children, families and adults:

  • Meal Service - Opportunities are available on weekdays and weekends for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Friday Shelter Helpers – Volunteers are needed on to help field donations, provide additional phone coverage, help prepare and serve lunch, and assist staff on duty as needed. The hours are 10 -2 pm and benefits include free lunch and free parking!
  • Children’s Tutors – Volunteers are needed to tutor school-aged children in general studies. Volunteers must have attended Volunteer orientation and have a completed background check on file before working with children.
