Carpenter’s Shelter is proud to be one of the 21 benefiting charities from Immanuel Church-On-The-Hill’s annual Pumpkin Patch! Located at 3606 Seminary Road, the pumpkin patch opens on October 5th, with sales running daily from 10 am to 8 pm through October 31st.

Fall into Giving

From October 6th through the 31st, Carpenter’s Shelter will be participating in ACTion Alexandria’s Fall into Giving, a three week long donation drive.

Help Carpenter’s Shelter and our clients get a head of the holiday season by shopping our wish list. Simply visit our Fall into Giving Donation Page and start shopping! Donations may be made either online from Amazon, or by dropping items off at the shelter.

Open House

Thursday - October. 16, 2014

On Thursday, October 16 at 6:00pm, Carpenter’s Shelter will be hosting an open house event for the community. This is a great opportunity for community members and new volunteers to tour the shelter and get more information about our services.

Carpenter’s staff will take visitors on a guided tour of our facility including the kitchen, residential space, and David’s Place. Attendees will get to meet some of our clients and hear about how they have thrived during their time at the shelter.

Refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome at this event. Space is limited, please RSVP here.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Friday - November. 07, 2014

Each year, many struggling families look to Carpenter’s Shelter for help with the holidays. Our Community Case Managed clients receive bountiful items to prepare a delightful meal for their families at home. Carpenter’s Shelter relies entirely on donations from the local community to provide this needed assistance.

Donations will be accepted from November 7 to November 21.


Donations needed:

Boxes of Stuffing
Cans of cranberry sauce
Large cans of gravy
Macaroni and cheese
Corn bread mix
Canned/powdered milk
Canned fruit
Cake mix
Vegetable oil
Aluminum roasting pans
Ziplock bags
Grocery store gift cards

Generous Donor

Thursday - November. 13, 2014

On Thursday November 13 at 6:00pm we will be hosting an event honoring our generous donors. The event will take place at the Principle Gallery located at 208 King St. in Alexandria. Light refreshments will be served. Check your mail box in the coming weeks for an invitation!

Run for Shelter Packet Pickup

Friday - November. 21, 2014

Packets will be available on Friday, November 21st from 11:30am-7:00pm at the Carpenter’s Shelter (930 N. Henry St.). You can also pick up your packet the morning of the race starting at 7:00am inside the USPTO Madison Building (600 Dulany Street).

Ready, set, Run for Shelter! Run for Shelter will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 8am just steps from the US PTO Madison Building on Eisenhower Ave. in Alexandria, VA. This 5K, 10K, and 1 mile Fun Run is perfect for all skill levels and ages.

We are currently offering early bird registration for only $30 from now until September 30th! All proceeds go to benefit the shelter and our clients. Last year’s race was a huge success and we want this year to be bigger and better than ever.

We’ll continue to bring you updates regularly as we get closer to November 22nd. For now, click the button below and join the race to end homelessness!

Circle of Hope: Thanksgiving Basket Stuffing

Saturday - November. 22, 2014

Following our Run for Shelter race, our Circle of Hope members will be stuffing Thanksgiving baskets for our community case managed clients. These baskets are a great way to relieve the financial stress that the holidays often bring.

The event will take place on November 22nd at 9:30am, immediately following the race. Please note that this event is for Circle of Hope members only. For more information please email Meghan Hendy.
