Position Description:

Child and Family Services Coordinator

 

This is a professional, full time position requiring knowledge and experience in management, case management, child development and the delivery of human services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Transitional Services Director, the Child and Family Services Coordinator plans and develops client services for children and families in the shelter program.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Advocates on behalf of the Carpenter's children
  • Performs intakes, orientations and needs assessments for children
  • Ensures physical, educational, psychological and social needs are met
  • Assists parents in finding adequate childcare
  • Collaborates with local agencies to ensure all needs of the children are met to the best of our abilities
  • Develops and enhance partnerships with local agencies, schools, businesses, recreational centers etc.
  • Maintains appropriate records, statistics, grant reports and files (USDA, CSCG, Meyer, Freddie Mac etc.)
  • Coordinates with the Volunteer Coordinator, and others to organize and implement an expanded children's educational and recreational program
  • Coordinates and implements parent education on all levels
  • Coordinates and implements children's groups (life skills, coping skills, Rainbow Days)
  • Develops children's program policies and procedures
  • Participates in strategic planning process
  • Acts as part of the case management team
  • Adheres to the Carpenter's Code of Ethics
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. The ability to understand and address the unique issues facing homeless children and their parents. Energy, enthusiasm, professionalism, good communication skills and a genuine love for children.
