Carpenter’s Shelter is dedicated to offering housing and hope through our core values of respect, responsibility, and results. We provide shelter for individuals in times of crisis.

Since 1988, Carpenter’s Shelter has been more than just a roof to those in need. We’ve grown from an old warehouse into a beautiful, clean, safe facility providing shelter and a multitude of supportive services.

Carpenter’s Shelter also provides basic services to Alexandria’s chronically homeless population through our outreach center, David’s Place, and operates the official winter shelter for the City of Alexandria.

Three shelters, one Carpenter’s Shelter, one mission to end homelessness.

Residential Shelter

Carpenter’s Shelter is one of the largest homeless shelters in Northern Virginia, serving over 250 homeless men, women and children each year. Our 60 bed facility is located just north of Old Town Alexandria, VA.

David’s Place

David’s Place is the only facility in the City of Alexandria which specifically focuses on meeting the basic needs of chronically homeless individuals.

Winter Shelter

Carpenter’s Winter Shelter provides a safe refuge from illness, injury and death during inclement weather.
