Carpenter's Shelter provides shelter, guidance, education, and advocacy for homeless individuals and families who seek sustainable independence and stability.

Winter Shelter

Winter is a difficult time for unsheltered individuals. Our Winter Shelter provides a safe refuge for unsheltered children, women and men to prevent illness, injury and even death due to harsh weather.  Carpenter’s coordinates this Winter Shelter for the City of Alexandria with the assistance of Alfred Street Baptist Church, Church of St. Clements, Fairlington United Methodist Church and the Alexandria Community Shelter. The shelter doors are opened from November to April, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily

The Winter Shelter serves more than 300 families and individuals annually.

“I am here at Carpenter’s because I heard that this place will help you get back on your feet.”
— Mr. A
